Now where exactly did HAND MUSIC originate, or perhaps, WHY?
Did the first man Adam entertain Eve with MANUALISM? According to
Ripley's, the first known MANUALIST was a man named Cecil Dill, whose
archive footage from 1914 can be viewed at any Ripley's Believe It
Or Not Museum. The most famous manualist of our generation is
John Twomey, who appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson"
many times from 1972 until 1991 as well as many other TV shows and
live appearances throughout the world. Now retired, the torch has
been HANDED to Bruce Gaston, the HANDMAN, of Allentown, PA, whose amazing
VIBRATO can be appreciated on his full length CD "Amazing Feats on
Musical Hands." Bruce and yours truly, Jim Rotondo, partnered in
July of 2000, and, in December of the same year formed the now
legendary NOVELTY SUPERGROUP "THE THREE TENDONS" with
Ben "Gone With The Wind" Brenner, Hand Chamber Blowist.
The trio, after only ONE REHEARSAL, was immediately booked to appear
on "Angelo Live", "Philly After Midnight", and "The Tonight Show with
Jay Leno". The Tendons continue to maintain the theory that SOMEDAY
THE AUTHORITIES WILL CONFISCATE ALL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, INCLUDING
KEYBOARDS, PERCUSSION, STRING, AND OF COURSE, WIND. Thus they
continue to perfect their unique artform known as MANUALISM...
